Our Story

 

Black Forest Soapworks is a hobby turned into a small business.

As so many others, as a teenager I had horrible acne, that lasted well into my early 30's. I saw several dermatologists, tried so many different products, but nothing seemed to help. It only dried out my skin and made me feel very uncomfortable and self-conscious. So in 2014 I decided to take matters into my own hands and started to make my own skincare.

Fast forward to 2020. After almost 20 years in retail, I decided to make a huge change in my life. What better way to do that than to quit my job, file for an LLC and become a full-time Soap Maker?

I live in Charlotte, NC with my beautiful daughter but grew up in Germany. One of my favorite areas is the Black Forest region in Germany, and that is where my company name originated. 

I use skin-safe fragrances and all natural additives. You will never find any phthalates, parabens, sulfates or any other potentially harmful ingredients in any of my products. I source ingredients locally whenever possible and take pride in supporting other local businesses.

Because all of my soaps are Handcrafted, every bar is unique and cut one at a time. Bars require a 4-6 week curing period.
